Getting Started With WhereScape RED
WhereScape Software develops, sells and supports WhereScape RED and WhereScape 24.
WhereScape RED is software specifically designed to build data warehouses fast. WhereScape RED is a single application that provides a complete and integrated data warehouse lifecycle management environment for data warehouses developed on Oracle, SQL Server or Teradata.
WhereScape 24 is data warehouse prototyping software. It enables the rapid development of data driven data warehouse prototypes
WhereScape is licensed in different editions:
-
Trial Edition. This edition allows you to evaluate WhereScape RED features, and can be shared freely with others, and includes both star schema and normalized data warehouse tutorials. Without a key the Trial Edition is limited to 200 objects - enough to run through the tutorials. It will enable you to quickly ascertain if WhereScape RED is the product for you and is not licensed for production use. A free practitioner key for WhereScape 24 is provided if you tell us a little more about what you want to achieve with WhereScape. This enables you to prototype a data warehouse (or part of one) and increases the object limit from 200 to 800 - enough for a 5-10 fact table or 20 - 30 model table data warehouse. WhereScape 24 can be used for prototyping, but not for production and can be upgraded to an Enterprise Edition.
-
Enterprise Edition. This edition requires a license key and is licensed per data warehouse developer. Price points are 1 - 2 developers, 1- 4 developers and 5 + developers. This edition is fully functional, fully supported and is licensed for production use. A serious data warehouse development solution!
NOTE: WhereScape RED software is licensed by data warehouse developer, and each production data warehouse requires an Enterprise Edition license. An Enterprise Edition includes the ability to utilize the software in multiple development environments as well as in production. It is anticipated that a single data warehouse will require multiple environments (for example: development, test, production, etc which are counted as one data warehouse for WhereScape RED licensing. The number of end users that access the data warehouse built with WhereScape RED is not a factor in WhereScape RED licensing.
