Getting Started
Intrigued, but unsure how to continue?
Got 5 minutes - have a look at the Product Walk Through, and then read our blog or some of our White Papers. If you are interested in prototyping faster have a look at Data Warehouse Prototyping - Reducing Risk, Securing Commitment and Improving Project Governance, if you want to speed up the whole building process and make changes easier we recommend reading Understanding the Data Warehouse Lifecycle Model.
If you have an hour, Schedule an Online Demo. In an hour we can show you how WhereScape RED can build a simple data warehouse from scratch, generate all the code, modify the code if you like, schedule the update procedures to run multiple times and even document the entire data warehouse complete with data lineage and a glossary. We will even have time to answer any questions you have along the way.
Want something more hands-on? Download a Trial Edition. This working version of WhereScape RED complete with six tutorials to give you an introduction to the power of WhereScape RED.
Skeptical about how fast people can develop in WhereScape RED? Sign-up for the WhereScape 24 Hour Challenge. Send us some meaningful data and we will send you back a working data warehouse prototype, complete with documentation.

Building a Production Ready Data Warehouse
Starting again, or starting from scratch?
Building in WhereScape RED means building faster while building for change. The biggest wastes of time are building a design that is not relevant and having to change what you have built because it is no longer relevant.
WhereScape RED allows you to design and build an entire data warehouse in a matter of days or weeks, including the build-out of second tier tables - aggregates, views, and so forth, even OLAP cubes for Microsoft Analysis Services if you need them, complete with generated documentation.
You can build directly from source systems, loading and staging the data through the data warehouse database using WhereScape RED, or if your data is more complex you can build from once the data is loaded into the database from an ETL tool or delivered via an extract. Regardless of where you start, the WhereScape RED Integrated Development Environment is the most flexible and fastest way to build data warehouses now and for the future.
Designing a Prototype in Hours
Whether you have an existing data warehouse that needs extending or are starting a new data warehouse project, WhereScape RED or WhereScape 24 will enable you to start designing prototypes within hours.
WhereScape Live Prototype™ technology allows you to iteratively prototype and populate simple or complex schema - dimensional, normalized, snowflake, whatever suits your business and technology needs - iteratively and rapidly, with live source system data, and regardless of source system scope or complexity.
You can quite literally go from a standing start to a populated schema in hours, and design your way iteratively to the best possible answer in a few days, with or without user input, as you choose. If your data warehousing problem is relatively simple, or your data warehouse designers really understand the analytical problem they're working with, you can have a finished, populated schema in a day or two.
Our data warehouse prototyping section provides more information including white papers from both WhereScape and IDC.
Enhancing an Existing Data Warehouse
Have an existing data warehouse that is not keeping up with user demands? Development backlog becoming a problem?
WhereScape RED's Closed Loop Enhancement™ infrastructure lets you add, drop and change the structure and data in your data warehouse while it is in production, adding new data or tables, or changing the structure of those tables, as part of the normal course of operations and management.
You can also populate WhereScape RED's meta data from an existing data warehouse, and use this to generate documentation.
WhereScape RED for Teradata
Teradata is the fastest platform for running your data warehouse, why shouldn’t it be the fastest platform to build it on too? ETL tools are great at data movement, but they are not famous for their speed of building or their ability to support changes in user requirements. That’s where WhereScape RED comes in. WhereScape RED is an Integrated Development Environment for building data warehouses. It builds Teradata objects (tables, indexes, join indexes etc) generates set based procedures and scripts identical to those built by hand by experienced Teradata professionals. It creates meta data automatically (and naturally stores it in the Teradata database where you can see it), and uses the meta data to enable you to quickly understand what is there and to make changes to it.
If development is taking too long, if keeping up with enhance requests is burdensome WhereScape RED can help.
For further information about WhereScape RED for Teradata read the Teradata Information Sheet.
WhereScape RED for MicroStrategy
WhereScape RED builds:
- snowflake schemas
- star schemas
- normalized models
- aggregates
- views
- MicroStrategy projects
The benefits are simple and compelling:
- WhereScape RED makes your budgets go further. Data warehouse enhancement and development costs are reduced, meaning that more money is available for reporting.
- WhereScape RED accelerates project delivery. New analysis areas can be built faster, and Live Prototypes™, using real data and visible in MicroStrategy, can be built in hours or days.
- WhereScape RED makes your users advocates, not critics. Live Prototyping™ means business users can see what their reports will look like, with real data, sooner than ever before. This means that changes can be made earlier in the process and the final solution more targeted.
WhereScape RED generates database procedural code, load scripts, and standard database tables and indexes – identical to code, scripts and tables that are created by experienced data warehouse professionals, and all available to be enhanced or replaced.
By storing metadata about the objects in the WhereScape RED Repository™ (stored in the data warehouse database) WhereScape RED can also be used to automatically generate documentation and WhereScape RED’s data warehouse scheduler can be utilized simplifying data warehouse operations.
The result? Less time spent building the data warehouse, more time spent building MicroStrategy reports and dashboards.
